Do Doctors Really Want you to be Healthy?

When was the last time you saw your local funeral home promoting a health fair or donating to life extension? I never have and don’t expect to because healthy people and long lived people are bad for business. So, it stands to reason that the medical business also doesn’t want to support things that are bad for business!

I’ve often pondered the extreme conflict of interest that the medical business has and you really should too. You see, it is a business, just like a car dealership. I must admit though, it is a much tougher business and people in medicine have to deal with many awful and traumatic events; I admire them for being able to deal with many awful things. But when you remove that factor, it’s, for the most part, a business just like any other business.

The car dealer has a service department. He may not have made the car or even sold you the car, but he is prepared to service it. The whole business is based on things wearing out.

As a matter of fact, back in the 1970s, the American auto industry was caught making products that were so bad, they deteriorated quickly. That’s when foreign cars took over the American market.

So, what does the car business and health care business have in common? They depend on the product breaking down and eventually wearing out requiring more and more maintenance!

So, all business exists to serve a function. If suddenly that funciton is no longer needed, the business goes away.

Medicine is a multi-billion or even trillion  dollar business. Doctors and hospitials make money, pay bills, hire people, etc.  They specialize in sick people; parts replacement (organ transplants), repair, and maintenance of the “vehicle”. An ill person comes in and then, just like at the car dealer, they are told various maintenance items or new parts they need for their “vehicle”.

What would happen if people were healthy? A multi-billion or trillion dollar per year industry would dry up! There would be numerous people having to look for other types of jobs. Yes, medicine is a job just like an auto mechanic. As long as there are vehicles in bad conditon, there will be business and money to be made for the mechanic.

Don’t you think this influences health decisions and even health research?

In my opinion, it’s the conflict of interest; there is no motivation to cure anything or give sound health advice because the more unhealthy people are, the more they go to the doctor. Would you do something to destroy your income? I doubt it and doctors are people just like you.

When I was a child, people rarely went to the doctor unless they were really ill with something that was life threatening. Today, many people schedule their lives around going to the doctor just because they think they are suppose to do so. Yet, when I was a child, people were thin, healthy and lived a full, active life. Do you see that today?

So, it’s important to remember that medicine, and dentistry,  is a business just like automotive repair. We are the automobiles. It’s wise to get a second and third opinion about repair to your car; you should do the same thing with your most important vehicle, your body.

Take Charge of Your Health – Let Your Body Guide You

Have you ever wondered how humans survived without what we call modern medicine?

Think about it. Humans have been around for thousands of years, surviving in parts of the planet that can kill you very fast. Yet, people survive.

It is obvious that people have an inner guidance on what is required to be healthy. It is when they ignore this inner guidance, they become sick.

The thing about this inner guidance is that is subtle. This is why most people ignore it. Also, the thinking mind makes things complicated and tries to analyze everything.

Just to give you an example of my personal experience. Since infancy, I had problems with a magnesium deficiency.  As a matter of fact, when I was an infant, I had convulsions which is a symptom of severe magnesium deficiency!  Of course, I didn’t know this was my problem and neither did the doctors. They ran all sorts of neurological tests and came up empty; no brain problems. Fortunately, they figured out that by giving me a particular baby formula, it would stop the convulsions. They never knew that it was something as simple, yet life threatening, as a magnesium deficiency!

It wasn’t until the last eight or so years that I discovered I had a magnesium deficiency. I was having high blood pressure and heart arrhtymias and needed to find out why. My research indicated that lack of magnesium was the problem. When I looked back at other health issues I’d had in my life, including the convulsions in infancy, it was clear that I had a magnesium problem all my life.

Magnesium deficiency leads to heart problems and high blood pressure. I was having all those things. When I found out what my problems was, it was easy and inexpensive to solve. Magnesium capsules along with the other support alkaline minerals. As a matter of fact, it was incredibly easy to get rid of the problems I was having fast and they haven’t been back!

But, in doing my research on magnesium and magnesium sources, I discovered that my mind had always been trying to help me solve my magnesium problem since childhood; I just didn’t realize it. How was it doing it? By directing me to different types of food.

All my life, I’ve loved almonds, cashews, coconut, brazil nuts, figs, peanuts and chocolate just to name a few. And guess what, all these foods are high magnesium food!

Another example was that when I was a child, I would sometimes have a low blood sugar reaction where I would become weak and tremble; of course I didn’t know that’s what it was at the time. I automatically got a handful of saltine crackers and the episode would be over quickly! I didn’t know why, I just knew that it worked.

It’s been well documented that pregnant women have unusual food cravings. The reason is their body knows what it needs for a healthy pregnancy and knows what foods will provide it so it generates an overwhelming craving.

But it’s clear that everyone’s body is always monitoring what it needs, not just pregnant women. My personal experience demonstrates that this same process works guiding you to desire foods that will solve your health issues.

So, look at the type of food, and I mean healthy food, not junk food, that you crave. Then, see what sorts of nutrients are in that particular food. You will discover what your body is lacking. This will allow you to select supplements that you need more efficiently.

Bottom line: if you have no deficiencies, you will be healthy! If you listen to your body, you will have no deficiencies!

Diabetes – Do you Have to Have It?

The topic of diabetes is a personal one for me. It runs in my family on my father’s side. My grandfather’s mother had it, my grandfather had it, my father had it and so do my brother and sister. I don’t. Why? That’s what this post is about!

What people don’t realize is that adult onset diabetes is not really a lack of insulin, it is insulin resistance. What causes it? A deficiency of  key nutrients.

I’m not going to get too technical here because it’s not really necessary. Basically, insulin resistance is the cell receptors get clogged up with calcium. Why does this happen?

Calcium is the one bulk mineral that is in abundant supply in the food system. Not only that, the food industry puts extra calcium in everything.  So, we are overloaded with calcium.

Too much calcium without the other support nutrients causes the calcium to go places it’s not suppose to, e.g. your cell receptors, and not go where is should, e.g. your bones. This is why people who take a great deal of calcium still get osteoporosis. If you live in an area with too much calcium in the water, you know what that does to your pipes, washing machine and hot water heater -  Scale!

Yes, too much calcium causes scale in YOUR body pipe system! So, what are the effects of too much calcium?

For one thing, too much calcium depletes magnesium. As I’ve written before, magnesium is a critical alkaline mineral that is used in over 300 processes in the body. It is also critical for the endocrine system. For example, the thyroid, the pancreas and the adrenals just to name a few. In relation to diabetes, we are talking about the pancreas and insulin resistance. Calcium needs magnesium to go where it is suppose to go. Too much calcium uses up the magnesium and throws the system out of balance. Result: clogged cells – calcifications.

Dr. Davis, in his Wheat Belly book, talks about how GMO wheat products can trigger diabetes; he himself had diabetes and got rid of it by eliminating wheat. However, for most people, more is required because eliminating the abnormal carbohydrate of GMO wheat doesn’t solve the problem of too much calcium in the body.

Also, it’s been demonstrated that changing to a more healthy diet can eliminate diabetes. However, I feel it’s more efficient to correct the underlying problem of excess calcium.

There are several things you need to do to get your calcium under control. For myself, I take very little supplemental calcium. It’s just not necessary as it’s in everything that I eat. Instead, I supplement with what I need to make sure the calcium goes where it’s suppose to go and does what it is suppose to do.

I make sure I  get adequate Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 helps calcium to go where it’s suppose to go.

Most people do not get enough Vitamin D3. Be sure to notice the 3 after the D! That is the type to take. How much do you need? Dr. Robert Rowen of Second Opnion newsletter says to take 5,000 i.u. daily when you can get some serious sun, meaning several hours with a large percentage of your skin exposed. Otherwise, he says to take 10,000 i.u. Although this sounds like a lot, it’s not because an International Unit is tiny; it is .001mg or, 10,000 i.u. = 10mg, a very small amount.

For myself, I don’t get a great deal of sun as I’m not the outdoors type. But if you do get out, if you load yourself up with sunblock, you are not getting the benefit of Vitamin D production from the sun. Basically, these days, it’s almost impossible to get enough Vitamin D from sun exposure unless you live in a really sunny place. And of course, in the winter, you will never get enough sun. Low Vitamin D has been associated with the winter blues; avoidable by taking Vitamin D3.

The other important supplement I make sure to get plenty of is Magnesium. I’ve written about this important mineral before – SEE ARTICLE. It is used in over 300 processes in the body and is required for calcium to do what it is suppose to do and go where it is suppose to go.  When you take Magnesium, you need to take a B6 with it which allows it to be absorbed more effectively. The pancreas uses a great deal of magnesium.

Since I am one of those people who has trouble using magensium effectively, I have to take much more than normal to get a normal amount in my system. However, it’s cheap and plentiful.

Making sure you get adequate Vitamin D3 and Magnesium will help in many different categories but it will certainly eliminate the possibility of diabetes by getting rid of insulin resistance – I know because it works for me!

Is Wheat Dangerous to your Health?

Wheat. It’s everywhere!

Not only is it everywhere in traditional bread and bakery products, it’s in many different products as well.

The nutrition people tell us to eat more whole grains and have since 1985. However, something began to happen to people after 1985! Obesity and diabetes skyrocketed!

Concidence? Not according to Dr. William Davis, a cardiologist. His new book, Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health blows the whistle on what is now sold as wheat. You see, it is not the wheat my generation (1950s) grew up with, it is a GMO or genetically modified organism!

Dr. Davis became interested in this problem for personal reasons. He was having a weight problem, which of course doesn’t look professional for a cardiologist to be fat, and then, to add insult to injury, he developed diabetes. That was the last straw for him. He decided he would find out what was wrecking his health.

The answer, GMO wheat!

He discovered that the modifications made to the wheat crop produces an abnormal carbohydrate that the body can’t process properly. Because of this, the blood sugar level spike lasts two to three times as long as normal, e.g. 1-2 hours becomes 4-5 hours. That is way too long for that much high sugar to be circulating. It eventually goes directly to fat which is the only way the body can get rid of it. Fat that collects around your middle if you are a man. If you are a woman, you know where it goes!

So Dr. Davis decided he would totally eliminate wheat from his diet. Bottom line: he lost the fat and removed his diabetes! Doing nothing different other than removing all wheat products from his diet.

After his great success, he started advising his patients with health problems to do the same. It is fascinating the high number of chronic health problems that were cured by something as simple, well not simple because it is in a great many products but it is doable, as removing wheat and NOTHING ELSE from the diet. The list is impressive.

Dr. Davis tells the history of wheat and why the current GMO Frankenstein wheat is wrecking people’s, including his own, health.

Over the years, I’ve had a problem with weight. I found that the only diet that really worked was to eliminate all carbs, which of course, includes wheat. When I did that, I always lost a significant amount of fat. However, when I resumed “normal” eating, and I’m not talking about junk food or excessive eating, the fat came back. Now, I know why. It is impossible to NOT be fat eating wheat products. The flip side is that fat goes AWAY when you eliminate wheat products.

Dr. Davis has written an excellent book. It’s a little dry in places, what technical info isn’t, but you can skip over them. Read the case histories and the personal experiences. You don’t need to know the nuts and bolts of how wheat wrecks your system, just realize that it does.

I can tell you this. I will never consume another wheat product. I’ve been wheat free for 6 months now and I’ve lost over 45 pounds of FAT! I haven’t been hungry a bit because I eat when I’m hungry and I still have removed the fat. It feels great to be back in CONTROL of my body fat!

I hope you will get this book and support Dr. Davis’ efforts to alert people to the heatlh dangers of GMO wheat.
